A boy and his grandfather, while fishing at sea, take a sealed jug out of their net, from which the sea king emerges. He forcibly takes the boy into the underwater kingdom with the aim of making him his apprentice and heir, marrying him to his daughter. The boy does not want to spend the rest of his life sinking ships with people, although this promises him wealth. Pretending to agree to the sea king’s offer, he tricks him into getting back into the jug, after which he again finds himself in a boat with his grandfather, and throws the jug back into the sea. The jug ends up in an aquarium on the seabed, and remains there.
