Plot

In one village there lived people who did not know about the existence of an axe, and therefore warmed themselves in the cold winter with brushwood, breaking it with their hands, stones and other primitive methods. A woodcutter passing by took pity on the poor fellows and gave them his tool. But the newly minted woodcutters, not knowing how to use it properly, began to kill and maim each other unintentionally, and therefore the village meeting ordered to throw the axe into the fire. The handle burned, and the blade became red-hot and continued to harm people, and then they decided to throw it into the dungeon. However, its floor was covered with straw, because of which first it caught fire, and then the whole village. Nevertheless, when the fire was over, the residents began to rejoice in the warmth emanating from the ashes.
