Plot

A screen adaptation of the classic fairy tale by Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan. Peasants are forced to pay a snow tax to a greedy landowner, and one poor family loses a pot of butter, having given it away as payment for a debt. A little boy overhears the landowner’s conversation, who tells the silly caretaker that the pot will be kept until the coming Maslenitsa. While the caretaker tries to figure out who this strange Maslenitsa really is, the boy decides to take advantage of the situation, convincing the old woman that Maslenitsa is him. So the boy manages to take away the pot of butter, but very soon the landowner rushes off in pursuit of his treasure…
